Privacy Policy
Home Manager is a product of FreebieDay, Inc., a Delaware corporation ("FreebieDay," "we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use the Home Manager mobile application, website, text-messaging features, and related services (together, the "Service"), how we use and share that information, and the choices and rights you have. By using the Service, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
FreebieDay, Inc. is the data controller responsible for your personal information. You can reach us by mail at 1111B S Governors Ave, Suite 29683, Dover, DE 19904, United States.
1. Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- Account information. When you sign in through a supported login provider (such as Google, Apple, or Replit), we receive basic profile details: your name, email address, and profile photo. We do not receive your password.
- Phone numbers. If you verify your phone number, invite a family member by text, or add a phone number to a family member's profile, we store that number so we can send and route text messages.
- Household and family profiles. The information you and your household enter about your household, its members, and pets — names, roles, birthdays, photos, species/breed details, care records, and similar profile details.
- Calendar information. Events you create in the Service, and, if you connect a third-party calendar (such as Google, Outlook, or Apple), the connection credentials and calendar events needed to display and sync your schedule.
- Content you create. Tasks, grocery lists, chat messages with the Milo assistant (in-app and over SMS), family memories and notes, and photos you upload.
- Device and notification data. If you enable push notifications, we store a device token so we can deliver them. We also collect basic device and app-version information.
- Usage and diagnostic data. Logs and diagnostic information about how the Service performs (such as error reports and request logs) that help us keep the Service reliable and secure.
- Payment and subscription status. When you subscribe through the Apple App Store, Google Play, or our web checkout provider, we receive subscription status information (such as your plan, trial status, and renewal state). We do not receive or store your full payment card details; those are handled by the applicable store or payment processor.
2. How We Use Information
We use each category of information to operate the Service:
- Account information — to create and secure your account, identify you within your household, and communicate with you about the Service.
- Phone numbers — to send verification codes, deliver family invitations, connect your account to your household, and send the text messages described in the SMS section below.
- Household and family profiles — to display your household to its members and personalize reminders, briefings, and assistant responses.
- Calendar information — to show and sync your family's schedule and generate reminders and daily briefings.
- Content you create — to provide the shared task lists, grocery lists, chat, and memory features you see in the app.
- Device and notification data — to deliver push notifications you have enabled.
- Usage and diagnostic data — to monitor, troubleshoot, secure, and improve the Service.
- Payment and subscription status — to activate your subscription, manage free trials, and determine which features are available to your household.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your personal information for third-party advertising.
3. Legal Bases for Processing
Where laws such as the EU or UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) apply, we process your personal information on the following legal bases:
- Performance of a contract — most processing is necessary to provide the Service you signed up for, including household sharing, scheduling, messaging, and subscriptions.
- Consent — for example, when you opt in to receive text messages, enable push notifications, connect a third-party calendar, or grant access to your contacts. You can withdraw consent at any time.
- Legitimate interests — to secure, maintain, and improve the Service, prevent abuse, and communicate about service matters, balanced against your rights and interests.
- Legal obligations — where processing is necessary to comply with applicable law.
4. SMS / Text Messaging
Home Manager uses text messages as a core part of the Service. You opt in to receive text messages from us by entering your phone number in the app and requesting a verification code, or — for invited family members — by replying YES to an invitation text sent at the request of a member of your household.
Message types you may receive include:
- Phone verification codes
- Family invitations to join a household
- Reminders and scheduled family briefings
- Replies from Milo, the family assistant, when you text it
Message frequency varies based on your household's activity and settings. Message and data rates may apply. You can opt out of text messages at any time by replying STOP, and you can get assistance by replying HELP. Opting out of SMS does not close your account, but some features (such as phone verification and text reminders) depend on text messaging.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Phone numbers and SMS opt-in consent are never shared with, sold to, or transferred to any third party or affiliate for their marketing or promotional use. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties, except with service providers acting on our behalf solely to deliver the messages you have requested.
For a plain-language description of our opt-in flow, see our SMS Opt-In Policy, published alongside this policy.
5. Google User Data (Google Calendar and Google Sign-In)
If you sign in with Google or connect your Google Calendar to Home Manager, we access certain Google user data. This section explains exactly what we access, how we use, store, and share it, and how you can revoke access.
What we access:
- Google Calendar events (read-only). When you connect your Google Calendar, we request read-only access (the Google Calendar "calendar.readonly" scope). We read your calendar events — titles, dates, times, locations, and descriptions — for a limited window around the current date. We cannot create, edit, or delete anything in your Google Calendar.
- Basic profile information. When you sign in with Google or connect your calendar, we receive your email address (and, for sign-in, your name and profile photo) so we can identify your account and label which Google account a calendar connection belongs to.
How we use it:
- To display your Google Calendar events alongside your family's shared schedule in the app.
- To keep your family schedule in sync so reminders and daily briefings reflect your real calendar.
- To label your calendar connection with the connected Google account's email address so your household knows whose calendar it is.
We do not use Google user data for advertising, and we do not sell it. We do not transfer Google user data to third parties except as necessary to provide or improve user-facing features of the Service (for example, our hosting provider stores it on our behalf), to comply with applicable law, or as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets with notice to you. Humans do not read your Google Calendar data except with your explicit permission (for example, if you ask us for support), where necessary for security purposes (such as investigating abuse), or to comply with applicable law.
How it is stored and protected: Google Calendar events we sync and the tokens Google issues for your connection are stored in our production database, encrypted in transit, with access limited to your household in the app and to least-privilege production systems on our side. We retain synced events and connection credentials only while your calendar connection is active.
How to disconnect and revoke access: You can disconnect your Google Calendar at any time from the app (Settings → calendar connections). Disconnecting deletes the stored connection credentials and removes the synced Google events from your household's schedule. You can also revoke Home Manager's access directly from your Google Account at https://myaccount.google.com/permissions.
Home Manager's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
6. AI Processing
Features such as chat with Milo, daily briefings, and smart suggestions are powered by artificial-intelligence providers acting as our service providers. To generate a response or briefing, relevant household information (such as your schedule, tasks, family profiles, and messages) is processed by these providers on our behalf.
Our AI service providers process your household's data only to provide these features to you. Your data is not used by them to train their models for their own purposes.
8. Data Retention and Deletion
We retain household data for as long as the household remains active so your family's schedule and history stay available to its members. You can edit or delete individual items — family members, events, tasks, memories, photos, and calendar connections — at any time from within the app.
When a household is deleted, its data is removed from the active Service. To request deletion of your entire account and associated personal information, use the account deletion option in the app's settings or contact us at the address in the Contact section. We will honor verified deletion requests within the timeframe required by applicable law, except where retention is required for legal, security, or fraud-prevention purposes. Residual copies may persist in encrypted backups for a limited period before being purged.
9. Security
We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect your information, including encryption in transit, hashed verification codes, scoped household access controls, and least-privilege access to production systems. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security; we encourage you to protect access to your device and login provider account.
10. Children's Privacy
The Service is designed for adults managing a household and is not directed to children. Account holders must be at least 18 years old. Parents and legal guardians may add profile information about their minor children (such as names, birthdays, and schedules) to their household; that information is provided by and controlled by the parent or guardian.
We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information directly to us, contact us at the address below and we will delete it.
11. Your California Privacy Rights (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to: (1) know what categories of personal information we collect, use, and disclose (described in Sections 1, 2, and 7); (2) access the specific pieces of personal information we hold about you; (3) correct inaccurate personal information; (4) delete your personal information, subject to legal exceptions; and (5) not receive discriminatory treatment for exercising these rights.
We do not sell personal information and have not sold personal information in the preceding 12 months, and we do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. Because we do not sell or share personal information, there is no need to opt out. To exercise your rights, contact us using the details in the Contact section; we will verify your request through your account credentials or equivalent information.
12. Your EU/UK Privacy Rights (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Economic Area, Switzerland, or the United Kingdom, you have the right to request access to, rectification of, or erasure of your personal information; to restrict or object to certain processing; to data portability; and to withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent (without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal). You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in the Contact section.
13. International Data Transfers
We are based in the United States, and the Service is hosted and operated there. If you use the Service from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, which may have data-protection laws different from those of your jurisdiction. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers, such as standard contractual clauses with our service providers.
14. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the Service evolves or as legal requirements change. If we make material changes, we will take reasonable steps to notify you — for example, through the app or by updating the "Last updated" date above. Your continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised policy.
